Any Person over 60 is eligible to adopt one shelter pet every three years at a discounted adoption rate, as a part of the Pets for People Program sponsored by the Idaho Humane Society and The Ralston Purina Co.

Eligible pets are dogs over two years old and cats over one year old. A senior adoption for a cat is free and dogs are given a $95 discount off of their adoption fee price.

All adopted animals are spayed or neutered, microchipped and given their first cat or dog vaccination. The adopter is responsible for the cost of any dog license that may be required.

The senior wishing to adopt under this program must be present at the shelter to sign the adoption papers.

The Senior Pets Program has allowed us to place thousands of animals in senior's homes, providing meaningful lifelong companionship for pets and people alike.
